Apply for a Certificate of Zoning Compliance for new single family residences (SFR). The applicant shall submit one (1) complete set of the building plans and three (3) copies of a site plan drawn to scale. The site plan shall show actual dimensions of the lot including but not limited to any easements, the exact size and location of all existing and proposed buildings or structures on the lot, and setback distances from buildings to property lines. No existing or new building shall be changed in its use in whole or in part until the Zoning Inspector approves a certificate of zoning compliance.

A right-of-way excavation permit is required before placing, extending, or repairing any pipes, cables, wire, roadway structure or appurtenances, or for any other purposes requiring the use of or connection to a Township road or right-of-way of a Township road. Fire Prevention Permits
To apply for a tent permit, download and complete the application and return to the Jefferson Township Fire Prevention Bureau at 6767 Havens Corners Road between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

To apply for a burn permit, you must contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at  (614) 588-5880 48 hours prior to burning. Burn permits only apply to commercial, educational or community organizations. A permit is not required for personal, at home bonfires.

Commercial and educational facilities in Jefferson Township are required to perform a fire watch when fire suppression or detection systems are not functional.

Transient Vendors
All Transient Vendors (solicitors) in Jefferson Township are required to obtain a permit through the Zoning and Building Department. The list of permitted companies will be updated as new applications are received. All solicitors should be able to prove they have been issued a Jefferson Township Transient Vendor Permit. If an unapproved solicitor comes to your door, please contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at (614) 525-3333 or 911 if you feel threatened, use your instincts and be safe.  


Companies Permitted to Solicit in Jefferson Township:  

  • IGS Energy is permitted to solicit as an electric and gas energy supplier in residential neighborhoods, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. until May 15, 2017.
  • Scarlet Management Group. is permitted to solicit as a direct energy supplier in residential neighborhoods, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. until June 11, 2017.
