Parks Board sponsors Community Gardens In Jefferson Township!

Gardeners with not enough room to plant all they please will be happy this season! Jefferson Township offers garden plots for a modest price so gardeners can grow all the fresh produce and flowers they want! The gardens are installed at the Schneider Home, a farmstead owned by Jefferson Township on Havens Corners Road between Reynoldsburg New Albany and Waggoner Roads. The historic site contains a 1918 kit home, large barn and outbuildings and was the site of the Jefferson Community Farmers Market in 2006. The Community Garden plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first planting day set for May 15, weather permitting. The gardens will remain open to gardeners 7 days a week through the first heavy frost (when temperatures sink to 28 degrees for at least 5 hours). Parking, an informational bulletin board, recycling and compost bins will be provided. Water will be available, but may have to be carried short distances. Want more info?
