This is semi-skilled work requiring operation of various vehicles, pickups, and small dump trucks that do not require a commercial driver’s license; trucks pulling trailers with equipment/materials/supplies; occasional backhoe operation for loading purposes; and power and hand operated equipment to carry out maintenance activities in the Township. Work involves mowing, trimming, landscaping, building maintenance, planting, and other grounds keeping activities on property owned by the Township; assisting with various repairs and maintenance of roads, berms, storm drains, ditches, and catch basins; trimming and pruning trees and other vegetation as needed; snow removal; directing traffic around work areas; performing a wide variety of similar semi-skilled maintenance tasks; and other duties as assigned. Holder of the position may perform or assist others in performing minor repairs on buildings, playground and recreational facilities, and other structures.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicant should have knowledge of or the ability to learn the materials, methods, and techniques used in road, stormwater, drainage and equipment maintenance and construction activities, as well as the occupational hazards and safety precautions needed to work with equipment and to perform required maintenance work. Experience operating equipment including small dump trucks, snow plows, and zero-turn mowers, and in pulling/backing trailers is preferred. Applicant should be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public, and to interact appropriately with colleagues and public for different purposes and in different contexts
The primary work schedule is 6:30 am. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday from April to October and 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday from November to March. Occasional irregular hours will also be required, including nights, weekends, and overtime.
