About Township Elected Officials

The township officials consist of three trustees and a township fiscal officer who are elected to four-year staggered terms. One trustee and the fiscal officer are elected in one odd-numbered year, and the two remaining trustees are elected two years later.

Ken Jones, Fiscal Officer

Ken has served the Township since 2004 when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term. He was elected to the position in 2005, and re-elected in 2007 and 2011. He and his wife Melanie moved from Buckeye Lake to a home in Havenswood subdivision in 2003. Ken is an experienced financial professional, having served many years as a Pricewaterhouse/Coopers auditor and as a chief financial officer in private business. He has been a certified public accountant (now inactive) since 1982. He retired from a full-time CFO position in the business world in 2001, but keeps active as a board member and officer of several area businesses. Melanie is a patent attorney with the Porter Wright law firm in Columbus. The couple enjoys traveling and family events.

In 2015, Jefferson Township became one of the first local governments to sign up for OhioCheckbook.com -- a first-of-its-kind website from the State Treasurer that shows taxpayers exactly how their tax dollars are being spent. The site complies Jefferson Township's spending information into a database that will allow taxpayers to search by category, vendor, time period, etc., as well as view graphs, charts, and comparisons.
